How to Log a Telework Day

Learn how to log a telework (work-from-home) day in GoCarma so your reduced commute miles count toward your earnings — including what qualifies, how it’s verified, and when it won’t earn credits.

Written by Emmett Murphy

🏡 How It Works

  1. On a scheduled commute day, open the GoCarma app.

  2. On the Home screen, tap Telework under your “Home to Work” trip card.

  3. Confirm that you’re teleworking for the day.

  4. Check back at the end of the day to see your earnings.

Once you confirm, the system will:

  • Record your telework day between your usual departure and return times.

  • Monitor your location passively to verify that you remain within your home during work hours.

  • Deduct miles you travel during the day from your potential earnings.

  • Award miles saved and earnings at the end of the day.

⚠️ Important Rules

  • If you travel away from home during your telework hours, those miles will be deducted from your total miles saved.

  • If you turn off location permissions or set them to “While Using the App,” your telework day becomes invalid, and you’ll earn $0.00 for that day.

  • You must mark a telework day up to 1 hour after your scheduled departure time, (e.g., before 8:00 AM if you usually depart at 7:00 AM).

If you try to log it later, you’ll see this alert:

“Telework days must be confirmed prior to your scheduled home-to-work departure.”

💡 Tips for Accurate Tracking

  • Keep Location Access = Always Allow.

  • Don’t disable Motion & Fitness activity.

  • Keep your phone nearby during your workday — short errands may cause your telework day to be invalidated.

📊 Viewing Your Telework Day

You’ll see a Telework trip card on your Home screen once your day is complete.
It shows:

  • Start and end times (your scheduled commute times)

  • Mode: Telework

  • Miles Saved and Credits Earned
