Before you can start earning and cashing out incentives in GoCarma, you’ll need to complete your Baseline Period.
Your baseline establishes your normal commute pattern — specifically how often, when, and how far you usually drive alone between home and work.
Once GoCarma verifies this baseline, it can calculate real reductions in Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) whenever you use a more sustainable mode like carpooling, transit, walking, biking, or teleworking.
🔍 What is a Baseline Period?
Your Baseline Period is the initial verification phase when GoCarma learns your usual commute behavior.
During this time, you’ll need to complete a minimum number of single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) commute trips — 2 within 30 days — between your registered home and work locations.
The baseline ensures that your future incentive payments are based on measurable and verifiable reductions in solo driving.
🧭 How to Complete Your Baseline
Set your home and work locations accurately in the app.
Drive your normal commute trips for a few days.
GoCarma will automatically detect those trips and count them toward your baseline progress.
Check your Baseline Status on the Home Screen to see how many trips remain.
⚙️ What Happens After You Finish Your Baseline
When your baseline period is complete:
You’ll become eligible to earn credits and cash out your incentives.
🔁 Ongoing Eligibility Checks
GoCarma also checks that you stay active over time.
To remain eligible to earn and cash out incentives, you’ll need to complete at least a few commute trips of any mode (4 in 30 days).
If you go long periods without any commutes, your eligibility to cash out may temporarily pause until you resume travel activity.
🏠 Changing Your Home or Work Location
If you move or change jobs, your baseline will automatically reset.
This ensures your commute distance and travel behavior are measured accurately for your new locations.
You’ll need to complete a new baseline period before earning incentives again.
💬 Where to Check Your Progress
You can view your Baseline Status at any time on the Home Screen or under Profile → Baseline Status.
It will show:
Number of trips completed
Trips remaining
Days remaining in the baseline window
